Come to the Kiamichi Mountains of Eastern Oklahoma for an exciting experience of a lifetime! Honobia lies in the Kiamichi Mountains 26 miles SE of Talihina and it has breath-taking views year round. This mountainous area is saturated with hardwoods and towering pines, blue-smoky mountains, clear lakes, numerous caves, and waterfalls. Enjoy thousands of miles of logging roads with distant views to ride your four-wheeler or horse.

The Three Rivers Wildlife Management Areas have over 870,000 acres of public hunting, fishing, and camping for your benefit. Turkey, Deer and Wild Hogs are abundant in this area of Southeast Oklahoma. This mountain region has many streams and rivers for various float trips such as canoeing, rafting, kayaking, fishing and mountain ATV trails. The Little River, Glover River, and Mountain Fork River are just a few of the exciting choices to explore and float with various canoe rentals in the area

While in Honobia,  try your fishing luck for Small Mouth Bass and Perch in the rivers. If you prefer lake fishing or boating,  you can check out  Clayton Lake or Sardis Lake by Clayton or  Broken Bow Lake that is only 40 miles away.

Nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts will like the beauty of it all, the untouched look of the area just as it was two hundred years ago! It is so isolated in most of the areas, you may even run across Bigfoot - the creature that tries to stay hidden. Stories have been told about Bigfoot for decades. They even have an annual Bigfoot Festival in Honobia.

The 2008 Honobia Oklahoma Bigfoot Festival will be held at the Kiamichi Mountain Mission Camp Grounds at the intersection of the Indian Trail Highway and State Highway 144, Honobia, Oklahoma on Friday, October 3rd & Saturday, October 4th and will feature a Bigfoot Conference . Honobia is located at latitude 34.539 and longitude -94.937. The elevation is 902 feet.

Honobia is pronounced "HO-NUB-BE." It is believed that the origin of the name came from an Indian chief by the name of Honubbe.
